
Most first-time UK pilgrims either over-pack or forget the small comforts that matter most. This printable checklist is built from feedback from hundreds of Emigre Travel pilgrims.
Documents (carry-on only)
- Passport (6+ months validity)
- Printed visa and flight tickets
- Vaccination certificates (if required)
- Travel insurance documentation
- Two passport photos with white background (spares)
Ihram (men)
- Two sets of Ihram cloth (white, unstitched)
- Ihram belt with money/passport pouch
- Non-perfumed soap and shampoo
- Sandals with no stitching across the foot
Clothing
- 5–7 days of breathable clothing
- Sweater for hotel air-conditioning
- Modest swimwear is not needed
- Comfortable walking shoes
Medical and hygiene
- Personal medication (with prescription)
- Paracetamol, ibuprofen, throat lozenges
- Hand sanitiser and travel tissues
- Plasters and any chronic medication
Small comforts
- Eye mask and earplugs for long flights
- Universal travel adapter (UK plugs do not fit)
- Empty Zamzam container (5L allowed in checked baggage)
- Tasbih and a small Quran
